Fox'fall had been in the med den for a couple moons now. He wasn't all that used to being cooped up like this, but it wasn't like he could go anywhere as he was.
See, a few moons before, he'd left camp to visit his currently now, ex mate, Steel, at the barn. It had been a routine, even if sometimes, Steel never seemed happy to see him, especially in those last few day leading up to the incident. He'd simply wanted to spend some time with her, before he continued to help out the med with collecting herbs, but instead he'd learned some rather shocking news. He'd had a daughter. Steel had had a kit, totally right under his nose. Fox'fall knew he didn't visit all the time, but there shouldn't have been anyway for Steel to hide something like that from him. But she'd always been so crafty.
Course, Fox'fall had been excited, he was a dad! He had a nice little family, even if he technically wasn't supposed to have one, at least not with some barn loner. And it turns out everything was not going to be as nice as he thought it was going to be.
Steel had never wanted the kit, and while Fox'fall had never seen her hurt the kit, nowadays he could imagine that she might have when he wasn't there Having the kit ended up really revealing Steel's true colors Or maybe she had never really hide them, and Fox'fall just been too blind with love and trust to see it.
It was only a matter of time that Fox'fall finally had to put his paw down. And Steel hadn't liked it. She was so used to Fox'fall being, well stupid about seeing any sort of wrong dongs about her, so when he finally did and tried to do the right thing, in this case take away the kit, unfortunately named, 'Cow', she lashed out at him.
Fox'fall still isn't sure how he managed to get away from her, and limp back to camp on three legs, with the kit in his mouth, but he did, collapsing just as he reached the entrance.
And now here he was, confined to a nest in the med den, while a Queen looked after Cow for him. He'd been in a sorry state, his leg having the worst of it, and was honestly, lucky to be alive.
Sighing, Fox'fall settled his head on his front paws, watching the hustle and bustle of the camp beyond the med den, wondering how much longer he would be in here for, because honestly he was getting a little bored.

Violet was a newcomer in the camp, having had the courage to join the Clan from the stories she'd heard from the other loners around her foster home. She had recently been chased and driven away from the Twolegs she'd been staying with who cared for all the loners that were brought there, abandoned or found by other Twolegs in the town that was there. She got into lots of fights with the other cats and so she was driven away. Of course it was for good reason, they were always stealing her food or playing dirty tricks on her. She was used to uncaring individuals.
She had come across the clan after running away for 2 days and 2 nights, not stopping until she knew she was far enough away and couldn't run anymore. Fortunately, the leader had taken pity upon her and she was mostly welcomed to the clan, much to the disdain of its members. Most, if not all of the warriors didn't trust her or didn't want her around and so they ignored her, though they did respect the Leader's wishes of course. Violet did try to prover herself with the time she'd been with the clan. It wasn't more than a few days now.
Violet had just come back with a good lot of prey as she tried to do as much as possible. She knew how to hunt from her scavenging while a loner and so this wasn't something too new to her. Being watched like a hawk, however, was new and boy was she watched. No one let loose for even a second, no one let their guard down.
Violet dropped her spoils in the prey pile and went to sit in a patch of sun by herself. It was no use taking the food to the elders who didn't trust a loner either, so she would let an apprentice take it to them. She was resting for the first time that day, having been out since dawn catching prey.

Fox'fall hadn't been nest ridden when Violet had shown up. When she had shown up in the camp, he'd assumed she would be chased out immediately, but their leader had taken pity on her instead and let her stay. Which Fox'fall felt really showed how the leader was willing to give pretty much any cat a chance, even if the rest of the clan clearly had issue with there being a loner in camp. He'd wanted to talk to her a few times before, but had always been busy, Fox'fall was always busy, trying to help out in the clan anyway he could. He enjoyed helping.
But back to Violet. She did seem to be trying her hardest to be a part of the clan, even when the others clearly didn't approve of her and watched her like hawks. Fox'fall wasn't in the same boat as the rest of the clan though, he felt Violet was certainly pulling her weight in the clan and didn't deserve to be judged for being a loner.
Raising his head form his paws, Fox'fall decided to call out to Violet from his nest in the med den, figuring since he wasn't exactly able to spend much time with his clan right now, some of them were giving him a wide berth because he had technically broken the rules by becoming mates with a loner and having a kit with her too, though he had been totally unaware of Cow's existence for quite a few moons. Maybe he could spend some time with Violet, even if the others judged him for it.

Violet was resting, albeit tensely, in her spot. When she heard someone call her name, her ears perked at the sound and she jerked her head in the direction it came from, expecting some cat to complain about her or to verbally assault her in some way. But, to her surprise, it was Fox'fall. She had heard what had happened to the Tom and how he had disobeyed Clan code throughout the morning in hushed whispers from his clanmates and she was curious as to why he was now calling her from his spot in the den. Slowly, hesitantly, she rose to her paws and padded over to where he lay.
The calico sat not far from where he lay, not wanting to get too close in case it was some kind of trick. She would watch him intently, her tail flicking softly at her paws. "Yes, Fox'fall..?" She said, wondering what could have prompted him to speak to her. "Are you hungry? Has no one brought you anything to eat?" She tilted her head a bit as she gazed at him. He was calling her over here for some reason and she was anxious as to what it was.
This was the first time she'd truly taken a look at the tom. Seeing his cuts and gazing along his body until her eyes rested on his leg and she flinched almost unnoticeably. The damage wasn't told in the gossip around the camp, nothing of the injuries he'd sustained were told to her or in conversation. Everyone in the clan had been angry and no one, that she heard, had spoken in worry of the truly bad injuries he'd sustained. "Oh my..." She looked at his face, a look of sadness had dawned on her. "Are you in pain? Would you like me to find the Medicine Cat?" Was that why he'd called her? Because he was in pain and needed help and no one was offering it to him? She didn't know, she only looked at him expectantly.

The hushed whispers had been less than kind to him, Fox'fall had heard a few of them, and while he tried to ignore them for the most part, they did bother him. He knew he'd was in the wrong, that'd he'd broken Clan code, but still, could they really blame him for falling in love? He was well paying for it now, stuck in the med den injured. At least they weren't bad mouthing his kit just yet, he was thankful for that.
As Violet padded over to him and sat down, and began to question why the Tom had called her over, Fox'fall answered, his posture about as relaxed as it could be considering the situation, though he tried to look cheery, "Well, I guess I am a little hungry, but, yeah no one really been by for me to ask to grab me something, but I also just wanted to chat with you for a while. It is a bit lonely in here by myself."
He figured it would be good for the both of them, considering how the clan as a whole was being a bit distance with them both. He knew they'd all be mad at him for a while, at least till they all found out what his punishment for breaking the Clan code would be, and they felt he'd gotten the proper consequences for his action. And for Violet, till she earned the clan's favor and become part of the clan properly, warrior name and all, they would likely continue to treat her as they had been.

She listened to him suspiciously, "A chat...?" She chuckled softly, her demeanor relaxing slightly. "You truly aren't the smartest, are you?" Nevertheless, she went over to the fresh-kill and grabbed a mouse, bringing it over to him and dropping it as his paws. "Very well." She settled near him so as to engage in conversation with the tom easier. "What is it you'd like to chat about, then?" She wrapped her tail around her paws, watching him softly.
She had hopped that, though doubtfully, one cat warming up to her a bit meant more of the clan would warm their cold stares, though she knew it to be unlikely. Her gaze gave nothing of her true thoughts away on the tom. She did, however, find it quite sad at the stature that the tom had found himself. She had only ever loved one tom once. A long time ago. It was truly a sad story to be heard, but one for another time.

"Yeah, a chat, I haven't been really able to talk to you before, since I was always doing something. And since I'm probably going to be unable to move from this nest for a while, figured now was good time. Especially since we're sort of in the same boat, with the clans being a little mean and distance with us right now."
Fox'fall leaned down to take a bite out of the mouse Violet drops at his paws, chewing and swallowing the bite as Violet settled near him. "I suppose I want to know how you're feeling about being part of this clan, ignoring how the others have been treating you, of course."

She nodded softly as he spoke. "Well.. It's actually not unfamiliar to me." She wondered how much she should indulge to the Tom. "I.. I wasn't treated very well where I came from. So I'm actually used to the treatment." She knelt down a bit until she was almost lying down, but not quite. "I'm used to being alone, almost hated by the people around me. Most don't show me kindness or consideration. Smart on their part, I suppose. People too close to me get hurt, anyway." She looked towards the clearing, not looking at anything in particular as the tom ate.
"Oh, so the clan being distant hasn't been bothersome to you," Fox'fall said, pausing in his eating to nip at his cobweb covered back leg, the limb feeling itchy. He felt sad to hear that Violet hadn't been treated like that well where she'd been before, but he didn't say that, not sure if it would mean much to her.
"Well, I'm sure, at some point, you won't be treated like that here." Fox went back to eating after he say this, finishing off the mouse after a few more bites.

"Well, the actual first is you being nice to me. It makes me feel like you're trying to hide something. But I suppose you couldn't hurt me right now if you tried." She chuckled and shook her head. A group of warriors came into the camp from a hunting trip and one of them, a bigger built cat that has dark brown and black striped fur, came over and narrowed his eyes at the two cats. "I see the loner has decided her time is better spent lying with the one who breaks the rules rather than helping the clan who gives her a home." Violet's fur began to prickle as she rose to face the warrior. "Not that I should have to explain myself to you, but I've been out hunting all day. Fox'fall who's had his clan turn their backs on someone who's supposed to be family, was hungry because no one gave him any food. Because all of you couldn't be bothered to help someone who fell in love. But again, I don't have to explain myself to you, mousebrain. Just mind your business and go tend to the elders. That's all you're good for." She muttered the last sentence to herself as her ears were pressed against her head.
"There's not really much for me to hide from you-" Fox'fall started to say, before he noticed the returning hunting patrol. And they noticed the two of them as well, one of them coming over to basically sneer at Violet.
"I didn't think you cared so much about who Violet spends her time with, Timber'stripe, you hardly see her as nothing but a loner the leader was stupid enough to let into camp, if I'm remembering what you said correctly," Fox'fall meowed, eyeing the other tom, before Violet cut in with words of her own, chastising him, as well as the rest of the clan in turn for their behavior.

Timber'stripe gave a huff, his tail beginning to lash from side to side. "Our leader, though usually in good mind, made a grave mistake. By letting her in and by letting you stay." He meowed with a glare at Fox'fall. "They should've kicked you and your good for nothing kit out of our land." Violet's tail lashed itself and she let out a low growl. Timber'stripe growled back at her and they began to his at one another, Violet's back arching.

It happens, lol
Fox'fall would have commented on that words Timber'stripe spoke towards their leader, but then the tom made a comment about his kit, his dear sweet little Cow. But even as Violet lashed her tail and growled, and Timber'stripe growled back, resulting in the two cats hissing at each other, Fox'fall let out an angry caterwaul at Timber'stripe, sitting up properly as best he could without jousting his back leg, to glare at Timber'stripe and hiss, "If anyone was a mistake in this clan, Timber'stripe, it's you, you useless piece of crow food. You call yourself a warrior, when we all know you're just a piece of mouse dung, even the rest of the clan hasn't talk down about my daughter like that."
Timber'stripe gave an irritated yowl at Fox'fall and moved forward like they were going to attack Fox'fall, but Violet stood in front of him, blocking the strike. "One step closer and I'll claw your eyes out." She wasn't gonna just stand there and let Timber'stripe lay a hand on someone unable to fend for themselves. "What honor have you in attacking someone who cannot defend themselves?"
"As you wish... Fleabag!" Timber'stripe yowled and tackled Violet to the ground, a fight breaking out between them.
Violet was fairly good at fighting as she had to defend herself often where she came from so this wasn't too difficult for her. She easily dodged his attacks and counteracted them with blows of her own. Fur flew from their tussle and bits of blood would fall from the slashes they both ended up landing.
After a while, other cats came out from their dens or had also returned from patrols and saw Violet and Timber'stripe fighting in the clearing.

Fox'fall probably wouldn't have been able to do much in his current state if Timber'stripe had attacked him, but he likely would've tried to fight back. But then, he didn't have to, when Violet step in. Though it led to the two cats having a scrap.
As their fight drew the attention of cats coming out of their dens or returning from patrol, a loud voice suddenly yowled out, "Violet, Timber'stripe!"
All cats in the clan recognized that voice, it was their leader, Tiger'star. The she-cat walked up, frowning at both loner and warrior, "What is the meaning of this fighting in the middle of camp?!"

Violet immediately jumped away from Timber'stripe and bowed her head respectfully to the leader. "Forgive me, Tiger'star. I couldn't stand idly by while Timber'stripe tried to attack the defenseless. I'd been hunting since dawn and no one had taken anything to Fox'fall who couldn't get food himself. So I brought him prey. We were simply in midst of conversation before I went out hunting again and Timber'stripe antagonized Fox'fall and I. He went as if to strike the tom and I stood in front of him to block the attack."
Violet looked up. "Then he attacked me. I couldn't just let him tear me to shreds, Tiger'star."
Timber'stripe yowled in protest, "That piece of mousedung is lying! She attacked me as I was simply passing by, Tiger'star. Don't believe this loner's lies." He hissed.
Truthfully, few had seen the start of the fight and those who did, excluding Fox'fall, would side with Timber'stripe due to their disdain for the pair.

Tiger'star listened as Violet explained her side of the story, only for Timber'stripe to attempt to repute her with his own story. She frown some more when other cats around spoke up, claiming that Timber'stripe was the one who spoke the truth. Luckily, Tiger'star wanted to hear all sides to this story, meaning there was more voice she need to hear to make her decision about the situation.
She looked towards the med den where Fox'fall was sitting, tense towards the situation, the leader padding over to him to ask him what had been going on.
Fox'fall relaid basically the same story as Violet, polite and respectful as he spoke to his leader, though he did add that Timber'stripe had tried to attack him over simply protesting to the ill words Timer'stripe had aimed at his kit.
Turning back to the clan, Tiger'star said, "Firstly, Timber'stripe, if you were so sure you were in the right, you would have no need to call Violet names, and certainly not in front of me. Your disrespect makes me feel that you are not telling me the truth. And secondly, no one in the clan has given me the same story you have, simple said you were right. But Fox'fall and Violet have the exactly same story."

"But-" Timber'stripe was about to protest, but decided against it, sitting down and looking to the ground as his ears pressed to his head, blood dripping to the clearing floor from his cut muzzle. Violet had indeed landed most of the blows and he'd gotten the worst of the fight. He sat in silence, his shame rendering him speechless. He only glared at Violet after a moment.
Violet bowed her head to Tiger'star, mewing softly, "Thank you for believing us, Tiger'star." The cats around murmured to themselves about the situation.
