Hey all! Excited to get started!
Was having a conversation in PMs with DoogieMeowser about Ani and Tory's history, and thought we'd bring the conversation over here. In case any of this resonates, and one of your characters feel like they'd fit, or can be a part of it!
Here's what we got so far:
They were childhood friends, grew up together, taught by Malek. Ani is a bit of a nerd, Tory is a bit of a tomboy, so as they grew up, they started drifting apart.
When they were 14, they had a big fight (they're dumb teenagers, neither of them can even remember what the fight was about anymore). Then Tory was isolated, and Ani thought Tory hated her now. Ani still regrets that she let the friendship go so easily.
The last few years, Tory and Ani's had quite the opposite journey - Ani become increasingly distant, retreating out into the forest more and more, and Tory slowly rebuilding her bonds within the community as people move on from her trial?
Malek is a strong community leader, mentoring Tory. Noticing Ani becoming more distant from the community, he also invites her to teach the younger wolves about basic snare and trap crafting that works well in the forest. While he does value her knowledge, his main goal was to reunite the two.

i am also excited!! loving the backstory for the two
i figured there's room for Hainer, and any other werewolf character, to be helping out at the school or near the school, where the characters can talk

Thought I'd repost about Gran, aka Murder Grandma, here just to have it on the record since it's not currently on her character page.
She'll be a regular human of about 50-60 living in Ivesburg. She will have moved to the town a few years before and from all anyone can tell she seems to be a sweet little old lady. She tends to pass candy out to children and parents will have her watch their children if they're busy. She's always willing to sit with the ill and just generally grandmothers everyone in town.
What people don't know is that she's a retired Hunter. She got tired of the life, took her savings, and moved to somewhere she wouldn't be recognized, but where she might be able to be of help if it's needed. She still has all of her old Hunter's gear in the lower level of her trunk that also has her knitting supplies on the upper level. She won't be as spry or as able to fight as she used to be, but behind closed doors at night she still keeps in practice.
She would know, and be known by, pretty much everyone in town - and if needed could still have connections outside of it.
I would like her to be able to use some magic - once again a thing that the rest of the town doesn't know about her - but would want to consult about what kind of magic a Hunter would be able to do and how much power she would have. If her having magic wouldn't fit into the story, that's fine too.
And from her character page:
People just called her Gran. She had a name, Elfreda Frye, and always introduced herself that way, but at some point they would inevitably just start calling her Gran. She didn’t mind, she was a grandmother after all and old enough to be the grandmother of most of the people who called her that. And usually the people she met as she wandered the world needed a bit of grandmothering.
Normally it took people a bit to relax around her. They would start out watching their language and manners as if she had never sworn or eaten dinner crouched beside a campfire before. She understood that – it was unusual to see a woman her age kill a person and not seem to be upset by it.
She got asked a lot about why she lived the life she did. Everyone asked how she got started, seeming to forget that at one point she had been a young woman who might have been just as excited to find adventure as they were. That wasn’t really the reason, but it was what she let them think. The harder question to answer was why she kept doing it. Usually she would say that she had gotten used to it - but that wasn’t quite the truth either.
At this point her age was both a blessing and a curse. Since everyone tended to underestimate her, doing something like slipping a dagger between their ribs was easier, but it was also getting harder to dodge their reactions. And old bones weren’t meant to sleep on the ground.
Also, I would love to have character connections as well if anyone wants to.

Hey Mirafin, thought I should move the little discussion to here thanks to Doogie suggesting it.
As a reply as to what you said, her helping Wits without even helping him would be quite interesting! And Gran buying huge loads of moonshine would fit in well with it all too.

Hi Kobolds! I'm not exactly sure how she would go about helping him so that's going to take a little more thought.
I'm trying to figure out what she's going to do with all the moonshine. I figure she'll drink a good portion of it, but I think she should be something else with it to - I just haven't figured out what.

perhaps she sells it, the drink that tastes like no other, to the werewolves and vampires who otherwise could never have it? 😱 like drug deals in the woods.
because Gran is a mysterious badass

I kind of like her being on somewhat friendly, or at least neutral, terms with the other races. Maybe that's why she quit being a hunter.
I also had the thought that she could tell Wits that her late husband was a hunter, which could be completely true, she just doesn't happen to mention that she was one too.

Ooooooh, I’m loving the ideas you guys are coming up with!
Maybe she could give directions to things that would help Wits be a hunter? Maybe a good, not well-known shop? And she’ll just play it off as her just knowing things after being alive for so long?

All of those are great ideas!
Sorry I’ve been MIA I will have the actual roleplay up by tomorrow! It’s been an absolutely hectic week, but I’m glad you guys are doing some brainstorming before we actually get started!
I’ll update the actual character section as well with the new players that have been accepted

Hey guys. just got accepted so figured I'd share a summary of my character since I only shared with J2.
For this rp he's the male form named Harvel Aims.
His parents where strict followers of the priest in Ivesburg and raised their son Harvel to be the same.
Becoming a sort of mindless "holy" weapon in the war.
Harvel powers are blood magic, and his parents figured that if they kept Harvel on a tight leash, his powers
could be used for the people and not seen as monstruous.
It works and Harvel grows to become a powerful tool in war, healing the fallen through his magic.
He was also well trained with a lance, and carried around a specially made war flag bladed lance.
The lance saw more of his own bloodshed as it was used as a rally flag, impaling himself and spilling his own blood through the air.
A spell that used his own blood to increase their peoples focus, self healing and strength.
Even though he was for the people, villagers feared him and his growth in war.
Rumors spread that those that disobeyed or fell short where met with him and never seen again.
Church was considering even terminating him,
Luckily none of that came to light, during a church ceremony a chandelier collapsed and struck him in the head.
Out unconscious he couldn't use his own healing to reverse the damage.
So he lost his memory, all of his magic spells.
He was retired to a sanctuary church and the people left him roses and flowers, while he was taught to speak and walk again.
Now he is a husk of himself, often tending to the flowers people leave him, and starting his own garden around his church.
He was able to re-learn his basic magic, healing small wounds and doing blood transfusions, but he cannot do more then that.
He's re-visits places to try and reclaim his memories.
He has no clue that he had a wife and child, and they have visited him often but lately has stopped assuming to have given up.
So he's currently a gentle giant, and he locks up whenever fire is around.
As that was the last thing he saw when the chandelier came down on him, bright orange and flickers of a single flame.
Harvel has brown eyes for this rp (I know his account has red, so I changed it to make him more human looking)
He also has a bad habit now of telling really shitty jokes to cheer people up,
But for this rp I really wanted to explore a character going through a split issue, either continuing to be content now and become a new person. Or, try and reclaim who he was once before and possibly lose the "gentleness" he has for the cold blood shedder he actually was.
p.s his human picture is on the account with his clothes, but for warn mature nidity.

hey, Veezly! this character looks awesome and i love the art 😄
i feel like vampires would be in his story somehow, with him using blood magic 🤔 maybe they want him so they can see how it works? or they perceive him as a threat?
Mirafin and i were discussing Gran and how she sells Wits' family moonshine to werewolves and vampires. perhaps she sells information too and that's how the werewolves of Kavenhold and the vampires of Corset know anything about what goes on in Ivesburg?

Mirafin and i were also discussing Gran in that it would be fun if she became something of a folktale in Kavenhold. the ones who trade with her in the shadows of Malen Forest welcome these wild tales, maybe even being the ones to spread the stories, so that their business with Gran remains a secret.
Now the parents of Kavenhold use the tale of Gran, 'a monster hunter extraordinaire', to scare their children into listening to their elders.
"You better listen or Gran will come and snatch you out of your beds!"
so when a werewolf meets her, it would be like meeting 'Santa Claus' or, perhaps more accurately, 'Krampus'

Thanks!
I had the same feeling, I think they surely know about him, as a human throwing around blood is probably not hard to notice for a vampire and any who fought against him.
They'd probably want him to see what uses he could pose, especially since he could boost them and heal them without them having to do it themselves and becoming exhausted. He'd be a beacon for them, but fragile since he's human and clearly can be killed, starved.
Though idk about now, since he probably fell of the grid since his accident and even if they knew where he was now they probably know he's simply a walking husk of himself.
Im sure vampires have visited him "as humans" to gain information on him now that he's friendly and very open to strangers in his church.
Unlike past him.
My other thought was, do the vampires have problems with certain blood, is there actually blood that's tainted that they cant drink, or can they get sick off of. Purifying it for them, helping the "sick"
Its a fun thought,
I can also see Gran knowing about the collapse of Harvel, and possible that it wasn't an "accident" that the chandelier fell on Harvel.
After all he didn't act like a human, he acted like a mindless weapon.
The idea that it was done on purpose to maybe even kill him, or stunt his wild growth.
And maybe that it was possible "old" Harvel was actually gonna turn on the humans.
But idk how much freedom with story we have here so glad I could talk about it.
For now though he's just a rather quiet giant man who tells really bad jokes and picks way to many flowers.
His war flag lance hangs in his church to supposedly help memorialize the man he was.
i love the chandelier not being an accident and that whole idea! maybe Gran knows more than she lets on or maybe this is one thing she doesn't know about...
i didn't remember that Harvel fought vampires, but that could definitely be how they know of him and his ability! it could be an interesting plot that the vampires think that Harvel is still just as powerful as ever, if not more, and they plan to nab him? it's harder for vampires to blend into the crowd in Ivesburg, so it sounds fun 😆
and tainted blood sounds feasible to me! J2000 will have to approve everything

Im down for whatever,
just along for the pleasant ride!
Though thinking about 4 hooded vampires acting like gremlins to nab a 6'11 human of a church is kinda funny.

Hello everyone! Not sure if we're just generally introducing our characters or trying to establish relationships, but I thought I'd jump in and say hi either way Also sorry for popping in so late, it's been a busy week T_T
This here is Allaiyn -- she's a traveler and a bit of a loner, so I wasn't planning on her having an pre-determined relationships when she ends up in town. (Unless she's been there for a day or two and has seen some people/knows them by sight but not much else). Totally open to forming relationships along the way though, or planning on some connections for the future/once IC starts!
Also,
@J2000 no worries, take all the time you need! Looks like everyone's having fun chatting about characters for now lol :p
I'm looking forward to writing with all of you and seeing where this story goes!! You all have some fabulous characters so far

nothing wrong with character independence, i'm excited to see how it pans out!

Floating the idea that maybe Allaiyn had befriended Ani in wolf form in the forest without knowing Ani was a were? Since Ani has taken up the habit of staying in the forest in her wolf form, and she is barely larger than a normal wolf in that form.

Aaa thank you! Hehe yeah, I usually like to to throw a character into a story without previous connections (aside from NPCs) and build from there. Nothing wrong with pre-established stuff of course, I just have more fun starting from scratch xD

That might be tricky, considering wolves are one of her greatest fears lol xD So idk about befriending per se, but I definitely think it'd be plausible that she might have seen Tory in wolf form or had some kind of interaction with her
Ah! I saw the 'befriending animals' part on your profile, but missed the 'scared of wolves' part somehow lol
