Timbermoon Pack

  • The Secrets

Although many in the town actually do know, some strangers are not aware of what exactly lies in the town. Although everyone is aware of Rezso and his pack-band of misfits, what everyone does not know is that they are werewolves.

The pack lives in a den all together, in their various forms, depending on what they are comfortable with. This can be anything from their human forms to their wolf forms, but all the wolves do live and work here together.

It is not uncommon to hear music, fights, or snarling coming from the building, but the town's residents know better than to ask, or to enter the Den. This does not mean the wolves are unfriendly. Quite the opposite, it’s common to see the pack at weekly bonfires, with the Alpha and Luna in attendance. The pack also protects the humans that live with them, but they do have a witch up their sleeve if things get a little too hairy.
  • Inside the Den

Entering the den is like entering a whole other world, it was lined with furs and the moment the flaps closed behind one could easily forget it was not some ancient cave dwelling. A pack united, living if only here, the way things had once been, many of the pack live in their true forms, mingling like a huge extended family.

The scents would be overwhelming at first till given a moment to pinpoint each, from each wolf, but also the pelts, the furs, the leather, some from creatures not of this Continent or even this age. Obvious by what seemed a thick wooly mammoth hide that lined the backside of Rezso's fur set in the far back of the longhouse.

The main hall is vast and open, adorned with rough-hewn wooden beams that stretch across the ceiling. Divided into different sections, each serving a specific purpose. The central area is dominated by a large fire pit, situated in the middle of the hall. Flames leap and crackle, casting a warm and inviting glow that bathes the den in a golden hue. The fire's smoky scent mingles with the earthy aroma of fur and timber, creating a distinct olfactory experience making it all the easier to be transported in time.

Around the fire pit, furs were used as seating, creating an intimate gathering space for the pack. Intricately carved wooden tables, adorned with ancient symbols and sigils of ancient designs depicting wolves and the hunt, stand nearby, holding chalices and horns that looked like treasure won in ancient battles.

At the sides of the main hall, alcoves and sleeping quarters offer only limited privacy through personal spaces. The leather-made walls are adorned with ancestral heirlooms, along with axes and chainsaws, the weapons of their current lives. Coarse, hand-woven rugs and furs cover dirt floors, insulating them against the cold and providing a touch of warmth and comfort.

  • Pack Hierarchy and Structure

Alpha: The Alpha wolf, the leader of the pack, holds a position of utmost authority and responsibility. This position is often held by the strongest and most skilled wolves within the pack, those who have proven their worth and leadership ability.

One of the most significant responsibilities of the Alpha is for the safety and protection of the pack. The Alpha must be an exceptional fighter and protector, as they will be called upon to defend the pack against external threats. The Alpha may also lead the pack in hunts and other activities that require strength, speed, and skill, to ensure that the pack is well-fed and thriving.

The Alpha is to maintain order and discipline within the pack. This means enforcing the pack's laws and ensuring that all members of the pack adhere to them. The Alpha must be vigilant in enforcing punishments for infractions and settling disputes within the pack to maintain peace and order, most often with the help of his Luna.

The Alpha is responsible for making crucial decisions for the pack. They must decide on the pack's territory, negotiate and form alliances with other supernatural groups, and determine the pack's policies on important issues such as mating and raising children. These decisions can significantly impact the pack's well-being and survival, and the Alpha must make informed decisions with the pack's best interests in mind.

To be an Alpha is to take on a significant responsibility that affects the lives of every member of the pack. The Alpha must embody the pack's ideals and be an inspiration to their pack members, as they lead them on the path to survival and success.

Luna: The Luna is the Alpha's most trusted confidant, serving as the pack's pillar of support and responsible for safeguarding the pack's interests, including its members and territory. In the pack hierarchy, the Luna is second only to the Alpha, tasked with upholding law and order and enforcing the Alpha's will. Acting as the Alpha's liaison to the pack, the Luna ensures that the pack members are fully apprised of the Alpha's edicts and expectations.

One of the most critical responsibilities of the Luna is to provide emotional support to the pack members. The Luna must be well-versed in counseling and conflict resolution, and able to assist pack members in navigating challenging emotional issues. The Luna's care and guidance can mean the difference between a pack member spiraling out of control or rising to their full potential. The Luna must also be a trusted confidant for the Alpha, managing the Alpha's personal life, schedule, and family.

The Luna is also the keeper of the pack's sacred traditions and rituals. Whether leading the pack in howling at the full moon or organizing the weekly bonfire celebrations, the Luna ensures that the pack's customs and beliefs are passed down to new members. In all, the Luna is a vital cog in the werewolf pack's delicate machinery, tasked with upholding the pack's laws, traditions, and well-being

Beta: Come second only to the alpha's in the pack hierarchy, and are an essential part of any Pack. Selected based on their strength, skill, and experience, betas are expected to be fiercely loyal to the alpha and to assume leadership when the alpha is absent. With their specialized roles within the pack, betas have a significant impact on the pack's success.

Enforcing the alpha's decisions and maintaining order in the pack are key responsibilities of the betas. Although they can offer advice and opinions, ultimately they must submit to the alpha's authority. Moreover, betas are responsible for the training and discipline of younger or weaker members to ensure that the pack's standards are upheld. Betas' strength and fighting abilities are put to the test when protecting the pack against rogue werewolves or supernatural enemies.

Betas are highly respected members of the pack, and their influence extends beyond their role in enforcing the alpha's decisions. They act as mentors and leaders to less experienced members and often serve as a liaison with other packs or human and supernatural groups. However, betas must be cautious not to undermine the alpha's authority, as this can lead to internal strife and division within the pack.

Delta: Delta's make up a large bulk of the pack, there are two common types of Deltas in a wolf or werewolf pack - Enforcer Deltas and Scout Deltas - and their roles and responsibilities differ slightly. Though this is hardly limited to such the Alpha must find a place for all wolves of the pack.

Enforcer Deltas are the muscle of the pack, responsible for enforcing the pack's laws and protecting its members. They are often the first line of defense against external threats, using their strength and combat skills to repel invaders or attack enemies. Enforcer Deltas may also be tasked with enforcing discipline within the pack, ensuring that all members adhere to the rules and regulations set by the Alpha.

Scout Deltas, on the other hand, are responsible for scouting the territory and gathering information about potential threats or opportunities. They use their heightened senses and stealth to track prey, identify potential enemies or allies, and report back to the pack. Scout Deltas may also be tasked with exploring new territories and establishing connections with other packs.

Regardless of whether they are Enforcer or Scout Deltas, all Deltas have a few key responsibilities to the pack. They are expected to be loyal to the pack and its leaders and to follow orders without question. Deltas must also respect the chain of command, recognizing the authority of the Alpha, Beta, and Luna, while still being encouraged to speak up if they have ideas or concerns.

Deltas are also expected to learn and improve their skills, both as wolves and as members of the pack. They may be trained in combat techniques, tracking, or communication skills. As they gain experience and demonstrate their loyalty and abilities, Deltas may be promoted to higher ranks within the pack hierarchy.

Omega: Omegas are rankless and hold no position, they are often new untrusted members of the pack or those who have been cast down for a range of serious infractions, such as violating pack law or challenging their alpha's authority. They are often treated poorly by other pack members and have limited rights within the pack hierarchy.

The Omegas often do not get to choose who they mate with and can be mistreated. Though Rrzso has a lenient view they are often not allowed to participate in pack activities without explicit permission from the alpha. They may be given menial tasks or duties and may face punishment for any disobedience or insubordination. Their once-great status is reduced to a mere shadow of its former self.

There is a slim chance for Omegas to regain their place within the pack by proving their loyalty and worthiness or performing great acts of service. However, this is a difficult path to take, as they must win back the trust of both the alpha and their former pack members. In this precarious position, the Omegas must navigate the complicated world of wolf politics with care, as they have very little power or influence within the pack.
