Ciel had wanted to search the kitchen for some cake, but something within him told him that it was a bad idea at this time. And with a place like this, he rather not take chances. So, he made his way down the quiet hall, ignoring the creaking of the floorboards and the draft that was probably blowing in from a hole in the wall somewhere. Probably.
He got to his bedroom door, unlocked it and entered it. Ciel glanced at the mirror and could finally see through it, which was odd, considering the last time he had looked in it, the mirror was extremely blurry despite him cleaning it. He shrugged it off and closed the door behind him. It was late, or it was for him, or felt like it was. Either way, whatever it was, he was tired, and he knew he'd have to get his rest, considering he had a lot to do in the next few days.
Ciel sat down on the bed, sighing. He ran his hand through his hair and looked around the room. It was cozy, if cozy meant slightly unsettling but looked fancy. He grabbed his notepad and pen, shuffling a bit in his seat, before noting down what all he had to do.
Only to realize he had already did it. Ciel stared at it, raising a brow. Then he remembered noting it down at the dinner, all the commotion must have made him forget.
Ciel set the notepad down. "Well, I suppose that takes care of that."
He got up and wandered to the desk, where he had his clothes temporarily laid out. He grabbed his nightshirt (which was a long, thin white button-up shirt) and began changing into the said shirt. He took off his shoes, his socks and garters, then glanced over at the mirror one last time, glaring at it with suspicion. It didn't seem to have changed this time.
Ciel walked to the bed and pulled back the blankets and crawled inside, and just barely managed to wrap himself up with the blanket, so used to Sebastian, his butler, doing it for him. He set his head down on the pillow, gently taking the eye-patch off his eye and setting it beside him. He closed his eyes, and hoped to fall asleep quickly due to his exhaustion, and did.

The room was black, there was nothing to be seen except for himself, as if there was a spotlight specifically focusing on him. The hands were pitch black as well, looking as if shadows were grasping at him rather than people. Someone was close, many people were close to him, their grip tight and painful. Then suddenly, the shadows and their hands, disappeared, or rather looked as if they were being ripped apart grotesquely like meat, flesh and bone.
Suddenly, screaming was heard, not of his own, though it sounded like him. Blood splattered onto him and the floor that slowly revealed itself in the dream's 'spotlight' and even flickered like a spotlight. No.. No.. I don't want to see it again..
He started feeling claustrophobic, the floor beginning to reflect shadows of bars, cage bars, around him. NONONONONO NOT AGAIN
Ciel went to scream-
Ciel felt something warm at his neck, before he was snapped awake by both the nightmare and the sound of something in another room falling, gasping sharply. He sat up, the feeling fading from his neck, and no other sound from the other room being heard.
He put his hand to his chest, trying to calm himself down, a cold sweat trickling down his forehead.
Ciel whispered quietly to himself. "It's just a dream."
He looked around, before turning on the nearby lamp, that would occasionally flicker off and on without it being touched. Ciel tried to control his panicked breathing, and when he finally got it to calm to a decent level, as well as his racing heart, he noticed something about himself that hadn't been there before.
There were bruises on his arms and legs, as if it were from when he was being grabbed in the dream. Ciel flinched, clearly disturbed by it. "I don't..remember those??" He said to himself, looking at them with a slight horror in his eye.
Maybe sleep wasn't the best thing for him.
Maybe he should search for that cake in the kitchen instead.

BEGIN DREAM SEQUENCE
It felt real, it all felt real, maybe because it once was real. Except dreams, or rather, nightmares, liked to change things up and make it even more frightening and trippy. Ciel felt hands grabbing at his arms, at his legs and ankles. Multiple ones, not just one set, but many. The room was black, there was nothing to be seen except for himself, as if there was a spotlight specifically focusing on him.
