The Coven started as a group of refugees from the Salem trials so they are still very cautious about introducing magic to humans and others. Alexandria is a gated community with outrageous HOA fees that deters humans from seeking real estate. They also have their private academy with the same guise of “accepting only the elite”.
Humans look at Alexandria as the retired rich snobs that choose to ostracize themselves from the rest. They guide their people and keep those they do not want away but definitely will not hesitate to punish those that do not have the Coven’s best interest in mind.
The people collectively know that you don’t ever bury the dead in their woods and supposedly there’s an old house that moves and collects the dead. There’s even a nursery rhyme about it.
