The Crag, seat of House Westerling, is a coastal stronghold situated in the rugged westerlands. Overlooking the Sunset Sea, the Crag lies south of Banefort, northwest of Ashemark, and northeast of Fair Isle. Despite its strategic location along the coast, the Crag has fallen into a state of disrepair, reflecting the diminished fortunes of House Westerling.

Once a proud and formidable castle, the Crag now stands more as a ruin than a well-maintained stronghold. The Westerlings, having faced financial decline, lack the necessary funds to preserve the castle's former glory. This decline is evident in the crumbling walls and weathered battlements that now define the Crag's appearance.

The history of the Crag is interwoven with the broader tapestry of Westerosi lore. One notable event in its past occurred in 55 AC when King Jaehaerys I Targaryen visited the castle. This royal visit underscored the Crag's significance in earlier times, a stark contrast to its current state of neglect.

Perched along the windswept coastline of the Sunset Sea, the Crag's position offers both challenges and advantages. The harsh sea winds and salt spray have undoubtedly contributed to the weathering of the castle's structures. However, this coastal location also provides a strategic vantage point, allowing House Westerling to monitor maritime activities and defend against potential seaborne threats.

Despite its dilapidated condition, the Crag remains a symbol of House Westerling's enduring presence in the westerlands. The ruins serve as a testament to the house's storied past and resilience in the face of adversity. While no longer a bastion of strength and grandeur, the Crag continues to hold a place in the annals of Westerosi history and in the hearts of those who call it home.
