Is the blue on brown/ red combo annoying on laptop and or mobile???

The cool contrasts the warm and helps distinguish it visually, and the darker background does help to ease eye strain for light sensitivity.

There is little harm in experimenting, but keeping in mind light sensitivity, text-contrast-to-background as well as color blindness will be good for keeping it accessible as well as aesthetically pleasing.
