While drinking himself under the table in a dingy dive bar in Oklahoma, a fellow patron he’d been chatting about weird things with dropped the comment, “you wanna see some weird shit? Laurel Hill Springs. There’s where some weird shit goes down. Weird-weird.”
When Mack awoke at 3PM the next afternoon, he packed his measly personal belongings and impressive ‘rare item’ collection into his American flag painted El Camino, and hit the road. Upon arriving into the remote town and driving to a local inn, he’d seen one dude walking around the street barefoot - which was only unusual to Mack because the barefoot man appeared pretty sober, and he swore he saw a pale, distorted face watch him pass from beneath a straggly bush at one point.
Immediately, he booked an indefinite stay at the Independence Inn, and headed to apply for a position at the Sheriff’s Office.
