Memento Vivere

Memento Vivere (MV) is a rejuvenated play-by-post (p-b-p), ahistorical fiction-mystery and adventure roleplaying forum, with a bit of witchery tossed in, about Venice and the Venetian Empire, circa 1570s, during the Italian Renaissance when all of Italy was changing... and so the World.

Our emphasis is on welcoming a diverse group of participants, regardless of their background or experience level, with the intent to foster a friendly and enjoyable roleplaying environment by considering ourselves a “work-favorable” group with a "hobby-based" approach to RP with No Word Counts, No Activity Checks, and No Applications (go with the IC "account profile"), and other Templates, use ours, use your own, your choice;.

We encourage members to create diverse characters from different backgrounds, cultures, and social status, enabling a rich and dynamic storytelling environment.

MV, our ahistorical fiction forum, is where we deviate from history, even to the disregard of historical facts; with our way being contrary to the perceived idea that the historical genre is non-inclusive and limiting to minority groups and women.

We also use Discord Chat for OOC discussions, plotting, and fostering a sense of community. Here, members can provide input and suggestions for improving our forum. We value your opinions and are committed to making our community better. Promoting a culture of support and collaboration among members and encouraging constructive feedback and communication, helps everyone improve their roleplaying skills, regardless of experience.

Tis here that we shall endeavor to write exciting fictional stories and mysterious dramas with dramatic and adventurous sub-plots, utilizing written history, rumors, legends, myths, our exposure to other settings of alternative reality, and our collective imaginations to tell the tales of the lives, loves, successes, and failures of the people, cities, islands and lands of the Venetian Republic of the 16th century. Some of our stories about the Queen of the Seas will occasionally veer outward from Venice, pan endeavors across the Mediterranean Sea, and even span the world by the sub-plot of breaking out into the Atlantic Ocean; but the prime focus is Venezia.

MV is an amalgamation of tales and ideas, both individually and collectively, about the fictional scenario of Venice and the burgeoning Venetian Republic, obtuse to the historical version of the Venetian decline; rather the Queen of the Seas compares to the other great Powers of history.


Our intent is to creatively write stories of what life, and the people in it, is like in “La Serenissima” and how she affects the world as the Queen of the Seas... demonstrating the heart of society, its order and organization, pomp and ceremony, its places of frenzied domestic activities, its hospitality, celebration, and pleasures, its underlying disorganization, its disloyal and unfriendliness, and its criminal underworld who seeks to bring her down.

In this forum, you will find that we are altering, expanding, and rewriting some of the historical stories already in and about other lands around the world, told throughout history, and coursing that knowledge with our own ideas, desires, and pleasures as we formulate ideas and stories through roleplaying and creative writing according to our own imaginations.

And to alleviate the fear of unfamiliarity with Venice, Italy, or Europe, you need not know the history, for there are story information readily available at a fingertip to aid you, should you desire.
