Our Growing Culture

  • Culture and You!

Here in BT, we the PLAYERS shape it all, and we use our IC stories and Scenes to carve out and further develop our ideas! BT has an every growing culture that revolves around what Characters are present in the town, and how we the players love to discuss things OOC in the general chat thread. So, because of the constant, amorphic state, the town is in, please use this page for NEW PLAYERS, and for our Day One Players even, as a point of reference for our IC and OOC established playstyles and cultures for Bridge Town!
  • OOC Practices

Please use this point of reference to catch up and be familiar with some of the OOC habits our players share commonly
    • Polite and Friendly discussions! - If something needs talked about, lets talk! Thus far, our group has been amazing at keeping the peace, addressing anything that may be of concern, and making adjustments based on conversations that follow! Dont be shy to speak up! You might not be the only one who shares a feeling!
    • Communal Scene Plotting! - Numerous times now, and surely many more to come! Our players love talking about scene direction! Where plots and story might go! What sort of new scenes can pop up based off IC things that have happened! Dont hesitate to toss an idea you have for fun scenes into the OOC Chat and see who is interested!
    • Reduce The Clutter! - As scenes finish, dont forget to change their tag to -CLOSED-. This way MOD can move them to the appropriate CLOSED THREAD, and reduce the clutter in the RP rooms! And please, if you see a scene that has been missed and not moved yet, inform MOD so they can move it! Sometimes they slip through the cracks!
    • There is NO LIMIT to the number of characters you use here in the group! There is, however, a silent agreement that No One will use their range of characters as a means of leveraging advantages in the RP. (Example: If your character is the Mayor, and you also play a South Side criminal - Do Not just go Pardoning your own bad guy)
    • Additional note on number of characters you have in the RP. It is good taste to make sure you are not stealing all the scenes! Some players might not have as many characters as you, and or, are not as active as you! So before you take on your 12th scene for the day, give others some time to jump in too! <3

  • IC Practices

Please use this as a point of reference for some of the IC best practices seen during RP Scenes
    • NPC's and You! - The town is HUGE, and not every important role actually has a character assigned to it! Because of this, there are perhaps times where it would make sense for a character to talk to or seek out 'Off Screen Characters.' Some of the 'OSC's are some of the town figureheads! Such as they Mayor, the Fighters Guild Leader, The Mage Guild Leader, and many others. In the event of these OSC's being needed for something, do not hesitate to reference them and make flavorful decisions as if the needed conversations and or interactions have already occurred! You as players have full authority to write and reference these OSC's as they are needed for your story! Maybe if certain ones are referenced enough too, they will begin to take on a true and adopted Identity which we will all continue to use!
    • Monopoly Money! - Bridge Town is a huge trade hub! As such, it makes sense that money is important to the themes and motivations of the town! This, however, IS NOT a hard pressed mechanic. On an OOC level, money does not matter at all! It is not tracked, it is not being monitored. It is purely IC flavor for you to use to make scenes fun! So dont stress over prices. Just play your character as they would fit into the social/economic flavor of the city, and have fun with the scenes!
    • Lets Talk Power Levels! - Here at BT we keep all the threats and the problem localized! This IS NOT a HIGH POWER SETTING! The threats here are commonly things related to crime, politics, socioeconomics, and other issues you'll find in a sprawling merchant town! That being said, yes there is magic, and murder, and violence. But none of the Antagonists of this story are going to ever be Cataclysmic or World Ending Threats! So, this applies to all characters joining! Please do not creep the power level! Respect the characters who are legit being played as the bad-guys and going to get a lot of flack! (Probably going to get perma-dead too at some point in the story!) Let villains shine, so the heroes and other characters who have struggled against them achieve meaningful victories!

  • Bridge Town Important Figures

A simple list of some of the important Player Characters, or NPC's around town, and what exactly their role in the RP is!
    • Valka Vex - The South Side Street Lord - A primary Antagonist in Bridge Town who values the Town as a Whole, but adds pressure to various characters and North Side as a whole via her ruthless tactics and obscure magical practices. She is a respected figure of all of BT though. South Side pays her a tax, which she pays up the line to the Guilds. She is regularly involved in major town decisions, as well as small ones South of the Bridge.
    • Anais Barthélemy - The Trade Guild Master - A primary figure in town, and respected as the True Neutral Leader of all of Bridge Town. Anais operates out of his offices within The Great Bridge Archway, and oversees majority of all town economics and finances. Taxes are paid up the ladder to him. Trade deals, imports, exports, and all legal businesses go through him! He is in constant communication with all of the important figures in town.
    • Quincy Eclair-Lafayette - Fighters Guild Receptionist - Acting often in place of the regularly missing Fighters Guild Master. Quincy is synonymous with all town dealings of bounty, merc work, guard patrols and so much more! With the FGM missing and off on daring quests and missions half the time, Quincy is left in their stead and operates as a high ranking member of Bridge Town and its clerical needs.
    • Gannon Eclair-Lafayette - North Side Street Lord - (played by Quincy) Gannon is Grandfather to the adorable desk man of the Fighters Guild. Gannon, however, is the true lord of his family name. The Eclair-Lafayette family holds significant financial sway over many of North Sides dealings and businesses. An angel investor, as some would call him publicly. A ruthless mobster, to those who know! Like the South Side Moth, Gannon holds sway over many of North Side operations, and is included in many Town Based Decisions.

Off Screen Characters - Can be replaced by Player characters at any time, but in the meantime are free to use as NPCs
    • The Mayor of Bridge Town
    • The Fighters Guild Leader
    • The Mage Guild Leader
