Some of the most common musical instruments found in this setting include:

Oud : A stringed instrument similar to a lute, the oud is one of the most iconic instruments of the Middle East. It has a deep, resonant sound and is often used to accompany vocal performances or as a solo instrument in classical and folk music.

Qanun : A type of zither with a trapezoidal soundboard, the qanun produces a bright, shimmering sound that adds depth and texture to musical ensembles. It is played by plucking the strings with small plectrums attached to the fingertips.

Ney : A traditional flute made of reed or bamboo, the ney produces a haunting, ethereal sound that is often associated with spiritual and meditative music. It is played by blowing air into the open end while covering and uncovering finger holes along the length of the instrument.

Tar : A long-necked string instrument similar to a lute or mandolin, the tar has a rich, resonant sound that lends itself well to both solo and ensemble playing. It is played by plucking the strings with a small plectrum held in the right hand while fingering the frets with the left hand.

Santur : A type of hammered dulcimer, the santur has a distinctive sound characterized by its metallic timbre and shimmering resonance. It is played by striking the strings with small hammers, producing a cascading cascade of notes that are often used to accompany vocal and instrumental performances.

Tabla : A pair of hand drums commonly used in classical and folk music throughout the Middle East and South Asia, the tabla consists of two drums of different sizes, one played with the right hand (dayan) and the other with the left hand (bayan). They produce a wide range of sounds, from deep, resonant tones to sharp, percussive accents.
