Victor was a tried and true sailor through and through. He loved all things nautical and had been a ship's cook for most of his adolescent and young adult life. You could say the sea was in Victor's blood. However, when your younger brother was the ship's captain time away was a necessity every few years. Victor had no ego when it came to the hierarchy of the ship, but it wore on him to constantly be ordered around by someone he had practically raised from boyhood.

When Victor took breaks from his little brother's crew he usually headed to New Orleans to be with his ex. However, she had moved on and gotten married while he was off playing pirate. Victor was very happy for her and her new husband but that kind of eliminated New Orleans for him. So this break he decided southern Florida would be his destination. He hadn't spent much time in Florida but he was anxious to learn a bunch of Cuban style cooking while he was there.

He picked a little seaside town with a vast array of cultures. He picked up a few shifts in some of the local restaurants and learned a ton of new recipes for his crew mates when he returned to the ship...some day. But he wasn't ready yet. He had lived most of his life in a kitchen and he wanted to branch out and do something else for a while. That's when he picked up surfing. He was terrible, terrible, terrible at it for awhile, but he eventually got the hang of it. Because it took him so long to teach himself, he started offering his teaching services to tourists and locals alike. He was patient and good-natured and got great reviews.

He opened a little surf shop just off the beach and started teaching full time. However, in the last three years, five major hurricanes had torn their way through southern Florida, devastating the coast line. Investors and owners got tired of pumping money into buildings and businesses just to have them destroyed again before they could make any kind of profit. The town became a money pit and most of the businesses and buildings were sold off to huge corporations that only put just enough money into the area for it to pass inspection.

With tourism dying Victor had to figure out another way to survive. He wasn't ready to go back to the ship and his younger brother yet. He hadn't found what he was looking for yet. He was in search of love. Not flings. Not hook ups. But heart stopping, earth shattering, life changing love. With his goal still not accomplished, he began crafting surfboards and started selling them all around Florida. Thankfully, tourists bought all kinds of shit when they were on vacation. He had contracts with several shops in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando where he could sell his boards.
