One Hour Before Opening...

Earlier in the week, Sindy had been promoted from Bartender to the Daytime Floor Manager as it was getting increasingly dangerous for her to be serving drinks. Between the tight spaces behind the counter, the probability of her bumping into her co-workers (whether it was them running into her or her running into them belly first) and the distance that between her and the counter because of the belly, it was honestly for the best. And since she is no longer working nightshifts, her sleep and rest have both improved and she feels more energetic rather then tired. With the exception of Surf's Day, where she had ended up going home early, the last four days have been spent easing into her new role. And hopefully today will go smoothly. Famous last words to be honest...

It was around 8:00AM and Sindy entered the Black Anchor through the backdoor and proceeded to clock in on the dot. Straightening out her new work shirt, which was 3XL to accommodate her growing belly, she quietly grabbed a clipboard with the opening tasks laid out and ready to go. Since she was the first one here, she had to get several things squared away. To start, there was inventory.

It was probably her second least favorite part so far, but she was adjusting. One by one, she checked each table, starting with their napkin dispensers to see how much was left, then checked the silverware. Forks...Butter Knives...Spoons...Yep, everything checked out. Were the Pepper and Salt Shakers filled? Then there was the Ketchup and Mustard...were they filled up enough? Half Empty? Almost empty? And her least favorite...The Bathrooms. Were the Paper Towel Dispensers filled up? Were the Soap Dispensers checked? Did the toilets need to be cleaned? Did it need to be mopped again? Was the trash taken out?

For this morning, it was a case of some are, others are not. So for some tables, she needed to refill the napkin dispensers, top off and refill the ketchup and mustard bottles as well as the salt and pepper shakers. For both bathrooms, she (thankfully) just needed to refill the paper towel dispensers. The soap dispensers were okay though. But later, if she had to, she made a mental note to scrub the bathrooms and mop them again. Better safe then sorry, she thought.

Upon returning to the front, Sindy went through her checklist one last time before looking at the Analog Clock. 8:55... Who was coming in next? She wondered.

She then took off her mask, threw it into a nearby trashcan and braced her back a bit before looking back at the checklist. So everything was ready...except for re-cleaning the bathrooms. Plus, it was almost time to unlock the door.
