~ room and board ~

Established in 1871 by Kathryn Douglas, the Thistle House is conveniently located next to the Mulligan Stage Depot; not by accident but coordinated planning with Mr. Mulligan.
The House is a full-service boarding house that offers various rooms to fit a boarder's needs, from one night, to as many as the person needs.
It has a small room suitable for a single person, a medium sized room where one person can stretch out, or two can be comfortable, or there are two larger suite-style rooms that include a bedroom, sitting room, and a small dining room for private meals.

The suite-style rooms have separate entrances while the other rooms are accessed through the house.
Three meals a day are served at the Thistle House, cooked by the owner, who was trained by a French chef and prides herself on the table she sets.
Friends and guests of boarders are welcome to dine as well for a nominal fee.
In addition, there is a lovely parlor that serves as a tearoom. Reservations are required, please.
On the main floor, in addition to the large dining room, there are several 'public' rooms that have been established for the comfort of the boarders, making it akin to a true home: there is:
- a parlor where boarders can gather and enjoy conversation with each other and their guests,
- a smoking room,
- a games room with a card table, and
- a billiards table, and a small library with attached reading room.
These areas come off the main foyer, where boarders pick up their room keys, receive messages, greet and sign in any guests for a meal, and access the staircase leading to the second-floor rooms.
A bathhouse has been recently constructed to serve the needs of the boarders, outfitted with fire-heated boilers and cisterns; gentlemen to the left, ladies to the right. Soap and towels are provided.
Come and make yourselves at home!
