Humans and the Others

Outcast or otherwise, the humans of Crossvale live very normal, some exciting, some simple lives. Working, focusing on relationships, seeking thrills, exploring the town's mysteries, you name it. Crossvale has a very rich past when it comes to the existence of the Outcasts, diverse layers of subcultures that were the stubborn counterculture to the unwelcoming, superficial existence of an everyday man in suit and tie, the system that made their people work more than to allow the individuals to focus on their passions and do what they love.
The lives of the Outcasts is filled with rebellion, authenticity, without any shame. Focused on music, art, self-expression, being a part of the misunderstood community and being a daily reminder to the people around them of what it means to be a free-thinking individual. In past, they have been active members of the resistance, they have been parading, rioting and protesting the system that killed the individuality and made an everyday man into a robot, though unfortunately that changed hardly anything, except building them an unfavorable reputation, making them look lie troublemakers and misfits.
To be an Outcast means that just living your life and being yourself unapologetically, challenging the idea of what
normal is, is the best way to rebel. And as the years went by, there have been people who began to understand the Outcasts, being more sympathetic to their situation and seeing past the exterior, recognizing their creativity, especially if there exists the inner need to just let go of the appearances and be yourself. Despite that not being enough to change the soulless society, they are still the odd ones out But that gives meaning and purpose, regardless of the results.
The Outcasts have very rich and colorful lives, despite what many would think. And that's why they are exposed to the stranger side of existence, one that is inhuman. The
true outcasts of humanity, those that need to hide their nature and true identities. Making the regular humans who were shunned from society as a perfect pack to blend in with.
Those who are aware of the existence of these strange-natured "people" call these creatures
The Others. The vampires, werewolves, demons, witches and warlocks and many other strange things that go bump in the night. Those capable of incredible violence and those who have insight in something beyond the reality that they exist in. Their reality is not as mundane and as simple as an Outcasts' life would be. They blend in with humans and mirror their lives - form relationships, find jobs, attend social gatherings - simply coexisting and hiding their nature, as they will be exposed to danger. The government is highly aware of the existence of monsters and what they're capable of, and have specialized forces that are well-equipped and dangerous, trained to hunt these creatures down the moment they are aware of their whereabouts.
So hiding their nature, the Others must blend in to the best of their ability and the Outcasts is simply the best community to bend in with. It's hard to tell them apart - the freaks and the weirdos. Still, they would prevent from revealing their nature even to the Outcasts, as self-preservation is important. But even those who are aware of the Others, the humans would not reveal those dark secrets. Sense of community and togetherness is part of their survival and when you have such powerful allies, what are you going to be afraid of?
The Others and their community
In their homes, in clubs, in cemeteries, in forests, in abandoned buildings, in dark alleyways and forgotten roads at the edge of the city - the Others have more than enough space to practice and thrive in Crossvale.
Vampires exist among the humans effortlessly at night, werewolves stalk the edges of the city on full moons and blend in among the people as the strongest members of community, witches and warlocks have their covens and perform their rituals in secluded or rarely visited areas, demons thrive in more powerful positions and ghosts haunt the night. And sometimes, they are right under everyone's noses, tricksters and charmers, as the members of bands, working in shops and living in apartments, eating at diners, perfectly unassuming as just a regular Outcast living their life.
In order to thrive, both humans and the Others need a community. Isolation can be deadly, especially when society itself is so demanding and unforgiving, no matter how simple and mundane of a life this individual may lead.
