Ah, yes. Boarding school.
Branchwood Academy was a prestigious school. The young woman decided that she wanted to get up and leave her original choice of school, and and apply to this place. She brushed her hair back as she read her acceptance letter, noting her rank on her aptitude test. She had received a 92/120, which made her the rank of 'Proud Acceptance', or PA for short.
She held her weapons, double katanas, at her sides. She felt that it would be foolish to put them in a suitcase, where someone could touch them. Besides, she had read that one did need to be prepared at all times for combat.
Haruki's eyes winced when she read that other part over again. She hated social interaction, and wanted nothing to do with two other people nor a roommate. She wasn't socially inclined. She'd be that one left over kid and just end up with whoever else needed a third member. She huffed and sat down in the cafeteria area. Perhaps she would get lucky and someone would approach her.

A girl entered the cafeteria, her dark blue eyes scanning the room. Her long straight black hair was pulled into a high ponytail. She slowly approached the table Haruki was sitting at. "Um, hi, is this table taken?" Her social skills were rather lacking, much like Haruki's. She was used to doing stuff on her own, not on a team with others.
((Ehehehe I see we used the same character generator))
Someone was talking to her. Oh dear. Haruki briefly looked up, her dark eyes meeting the pair of blues. She shrugged at the question. While a million questions flew through her mind, she was more concerned about the girl's rank. She was aware of three at the moment.
There was her rank, Proud Acceptance, and she believed Combat Ready was right below that. Then there was... Degenerate, which sounded pretty negative. She buried her face into a book to try and avoid conversation. She was half-hoping this girl would stay.

((Yup!! ))
The girl sat down and glanced at the book in the girl's hands. She wondered what it was. It definitely seemed interesting. While Haruki had her katana, the girl didn't seem to have any weapons on her. "I'm Tolora Mikiko..." She really hoped she wasn't intruding on the girl's reading. Tolora looked away at the rest of the room but stayed put. At least it was somewhat quieter in this part of the room.

((I can't draw so yeah))
She took a deep breath. "Please sit down and don't get any closer." She didn't mean to come off as rude. But her very delicate personal space bubble was being popped. After a bit of hesitation, she just gave a curt nod.
"Haruki Korone, Proud Acceptance 1st year student."

Tolora sat in a chair and left one between them. She pulled her legs up into the chair and sat criss cross. "I'm a first year too. Combat Ready." She bit her lip. That was a level below Proud Acceptance, wasn't it? At least they were close.
The book she was reading appeared to be one from the place she was from. "...You wouldn't understand this." It seemed it was in a different language. And it wasn't a book, it seemed to be letters. Judging from the seal on every message, they were all from the same person.
"Don't you have anything to defend yourself with? You are combat ready, right?" The girl had pulled out a katana, wanting to see how this girl reacted.

Tolora looked a little closer at the seal, not wanted to seem like she was trying to read the letters. "Is that Japanese?" It had been a while since she'd seen or heard anything from her home country. And she didn't really expect to find anything from it so far away. It made her feel a little homesick.
She smiled when the girl pulled out her katana. "Just because you can't see my weapons doesn't mean they're not there." To make a point she raised her hand, which held a simple black throwing knife that hadn't been there before.

"No. It's the General Language. Everybody who lives in my universe knows it. But good try." She put her katana away. "I don't think I'd like to form a team with someone who doesn't possess a weapon."
"I'd prefer you not look through them, actually. You wouldn't be able to read it and I'd doubt the person who sent them would like you to, either."
Once she started to speak, Haruki could practically go on for ages.

Tolora shrugged. She'd felt a little hopeful but she was wrong. Seeing the letters in the girl's hands reminded her that she should probably write to her brother. She pricked up at the 'my universe.' "You're from a different universe?" she figured that the people here would be pretty diverse, but she hadn't been expecting aliens! Not that this girl really looked any different from anyone else in the room.
"My team captain sent me here in an attempt to check on this universe. You see, it's where he was originally from. He might be teaching here soon." She said.
"It's not all that different from this one, you know. The entire Earth is ruled by a single monarch. It really makes everything less confusing."

Sighing and feeling the onset of a headache as he thought about just the aspect of joining a squad, Nemo's gaze drifted across the cafeteria. His eyes settled on a pair of students. Perhaps one of them was looking for a squad. It looked like one of them was reading too, and he never could resist a book.
Making his way over, he wasted no time in putting all zero of his manners and social graces to work. "Would you two happen to be new students as well?" He asked, pulling out a chair and sitting down across from them.

((Hello friend!))
It was at this point that Haruki shut the book and sealed it with the black aura that swirled out of her hand. The book glowed a few colors before finally returning to its original state as she pushed it back into her suitcase. She seemed to have quieted down at this point, and really didn't feel the need to draw a weapon at him.
Haruki nodded at his question, and leaned back into her chair. She really should get some food at this point, shouldn't she? She stood up and just tilted her head to show a gesture of inviting the other two up to get food.

Tolora nodded to the boy. She noticed the black aura that came from Haruki's hands and wondered just what she was capable of. Her stomach growled at the thought of food and she stood up to get some with Haruki. They were in a cafeteria after all; might as well use the room for what it was meant to be used. "I'm Tolora." She introduced herself to the boy.
Upon seeing whatever ability the one girl used on her book, Nemo's attention jumped from forced passing interest to genuine curiosity. When she suddenly stood up, he wondered if been considered an annoyance and was leaving. Certainly wouldn't be the first time that'd happened. Thankfully the indication to come along silenced that brief worry.
"Nemo." He replied to the introduction, standing back up and waiting to follow them.

((Sent y'all an IC PM))
Wow, new record. She got to introduce herself twice. "Haruki Korone. Proud Acceptance, first year student." She decided to add her rank on from her original place. "Tactician of the First Response Combat Squad to Their Royal Majesties. I suppose you wouldn't know that. I just thought I'd make it clear I have experience."
What a shitty way to show off.

Tolora crossed her arms, wondering if Haruki was always going to be like this. "That's a shiny title." She rolled her eyes and walked away to go get breakfast, piling her plate high with bacon, sausage, eggs and potatoes. Balancing her plate with one hand, she grabbed a fork and a cup of orange juice with the other.
Haruki's plate wasn't very full. She didn't have a big appetite.
"Flashy titles where I come from are often accurate. I do not mean to come off as rude. Do you have a rank where you come from?" She tilted her head as she spoke to her. "I earned that rank through rigorous training."

Nemo settled some eggs and sausage stuffed between two piece of toast. He grabbed a cup of tea as well, hoping it would help subside his still-growing headache... which was made no better by the so-called flashy title. "I certainly hope you aren't expecting to be called by all that regularly. Even if accurate, it would be impractical."
Tolora smirked and went back to sit down. "Yeah, I have the rank of 'Big Sister' back home. I didn't go through training with anyone else, just myself and a good teacher who could be rigorous as anyone." Her smile faltered a little and she turned to Nemo. "What about you? Any fancy titles under your belt?"
