Now Hiring Junior Staff

We are looking to hire one (1) new Junior Staff member. Please review the rules below carefully. Being staff in NV does come with several perks (which will be described if you are hired), however our team takes the role seriously and has pretty strict expectations of activity and attitude. This is not a passive role or a status symbol, but a committed volunteer position.

Staff Rules
1. Inactivity - After three weeks of inactivity without communication, staff positions will be suspended. Upon return, reinstatement can be discussed directly with the Rah, but is not guaranteed.

2. Hiatus - It is required to inform management of potential or applied hiatuses, this will guarantee 6 weeks of expected inactivity. Staff may take an extended hiatus without loss of privileges by communicating with the Rah directly.

3. Discord and Staff Discussions - All staff members will have access to the private RPR group and forums, regardless of rank. Discord chats are also available and participation is mandatory.

All staff discussions are confidential, and violation of this policy can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination from staff position and banishment from the dream.

4. Suspension & Removal from Staff - Abide by staff rules and dream rules.

Removal can occur by...

- Impersonating senior staff
- Abusing staff position
- Bad behavior
- Inactivity of staff duties
- Willfully misrepresenting the overall staff priorities

All staff are subject to a one month probationary period for each promotion wherein privileges may be revoked.

5. Staff Duties - All tiers of staff are responsible for similar but separate duties that are expected to be maintained if you are hired as a staff member in the dream of New Versailles.

Junior Staff

- Are required to be on duty for a minimum of 5 hours per week.
- Are required to emit open RP's when on duty and approached by a member of the dream.
- Are required to interact actively with the community in the OOC room, including guiding the conversation and referring people to the chat channel when things become rowdy.
- Must report behavior and continuity violations to Senior Staff for them to handle.
- Must host 4 successful Open RPs per month or one event (may be IC or OOC/Community building).

Senior Staff

- Are required to be on duty a minimum of 10 hours per week.
- Are required to address any serious situation that may be brought to them by junior staff.
- Are required to emit open RP's when on duty and approached by a member of the dream.
- Are required to interact actively with the community in the OOC room.
- Are required to moderate the OOC room.

(This may include making sure the appropriate language is being used when late night NV is not in session. Making sure players are being kind and courteous to one another. Making sure high risk/personal conversations are directed to private conversation or to the group channel if it is a group discussion.)

6. Moderation Levels - Junior staff are not permitted to handle moderation involving rule breakers, disagreements, or disciplinary action. You must refer the problem to a senior staff member. If a member of staff is not available, screen shot and log the event(s) and make a report to a senior staff member as soon as they are available or pass it along through the requesting assistance chat on Discord. You can also send an offline message or PM them on the RPR forums.

7. Staff Level & Promotions

Rah > Management > Senior Staff > Junior Staff

Staff slots will be announced when we are accepting applications and promotions will be based on performance and a demonstrated ability and willingness to handle stressful situations and mediation. Promotions may not be applied for until after the probationary period has been completed, and acceptance is determined based on the aforementioned criteria.

Please remember...

- Becoming Junior Staff is not necessarily indicative that one will progress to Senior Staff.

- Junior staff may apply for senior staff only after at least two months of continuous junior staff employment.

- Management positions are not roles that can be applied for by any staff or any members.

8. Consistency - All rules must be enforced uniformly. While Junior Staff may not discipline, they are expected to set a good example in the community and exhibit exemplary behavior. All staff reflect on the dream as a whole as far as the community is concerned. Keep this in mind at all times while you are logged in as a known staff alt.

Part of being Junior Staff is occasionally hosting events. Briefly describe two event ideas, one IC and one OOC:

Would you be willing to join an open roleplay to help the players involved get housing points, even if you weren't particularly enthused about the scene?

How do you feel about RPing with people who may not have much experience?

If you had to describe NV to someone who has never been here before, what would you tell them?

Someone in NV brings over old characters which are considered deities in a particular pantheon. They've been RPing them as such for years, but they aren't acceptable as-is by our continuity's standards. How do you advise they transition to NV?

The OOC room is out of hand, and everyone is rapidly spouting inside jokes. What do you do about it?

If one of your friends was willfully breaking a rule or conducting themselves in a way that is counter to community standards, how would you handle the situation?

Have you ever received an Official Warning? If so, why, and what have you learned from it?
(Please note that any disciplinary actions or official warnings in the past six months will result in a denied application.)
