So I know some of you peeps take advantage of the modern day rp, and use your RPR journals to post "twitter" like tidbits about your character. Kudos to you, I do this too! But today I got frustrated with it not "looking" very "twitter" like. So... I figured out how to make it look nice and clean, without too much hassle; so naturally my thought was to share it with you guys!

Step 1: Save this image
Keep it in PNG format, as this allows for transparency.

It's got transparent parts that are very important for styling. Let me explain! In order to keep your image lined up all nice with the text, the transparency at the top and bottom will make for a very pretty little code when all is said and done!

Step 2: Open this image in an image editor
Use something capable of making layers, and saving in transparency (Photoshop and Gimp are two good resources, as example). You will see the extra space, and then the little blue icon guy.

Step 3: Pick an image you want to use and create a new layer
Just keep in mind it will be scaled WAAAAAY tiny. Paste it into the new layer and re-size it to fit roughly over the existing square.

Step 4: Hide the overflow of your icon

This can be done by right clicking on the layer that you've pasted/re-sized your image on and select "clipping mask".
Make sure the layer with your picture on it is right above the original image. This will give your image rounded borders, and make the whole thing look more authentic. It should look something like the image on the left for Photoshop users.

Step 5: Use BB code to put together the "tweet"

So excited for the #NVYLS49thAnnualDebutanteBall.
I still need a dress. Time for some major retail therapy!

Doesn't that look pretty? :D
Don't worry! I wouldn't be here if I wasn't going to give you the code!

Step 6: Edit the code to fit your character
Save the image you made and upload it to a free image hosting site (like imgur or gyazo, etc). Copy the link's location and replace it with the one I have at the top of the code. Everything between where it says ["size=5"] and ["/size"] is where you put your text for your tweet! Just be sure to pay attention and hit enter for a new line at about the place a tweet would be cut off. In this example, I did it right after my # for the upcoming ball.

Your Name Here @YourUsernameHere
Your Tweet Here.

Code:
[img align=left]http://i.imgur.com/MpDtphd.png[/img] [b]Your Name Here[/b] [size=2][color=#8899a6]@YourUsernameHere[/color][/size] [size=5]Your Tweet Here.[/size]

Extras
Most RPR layouts have links colored already, but you can also change the colors of your name or any other text, with this code:
Code:
[color=#000000]Text[/color]

Just change the hex code to the color of your choice (in example, #000000 is black and #ffffff is white. You can also use basic colors, just by typing in the color name (like "color=red" or "color=blue") I did it in the above example for the "username" area, to give it the same look as twitter posts have. :D

Please note that different fonts from different layout styles might look odd or need tweaking; but I've given you the tools to start!

Happy profile beautifying all!
THANK YOU!
Oh hey, that's really cool.
