A New Era, New Myths
The Mad CommanderThe words were spoken in hushed tones, eyes darting side to side, to ensure that their words didn't spread to unwanting ears.Secrets are scarcely kept, especially those of rumor and other such banter. They have a way of sneaking out into the open. The captain of the Valdys had returned to Guildereim, bringing back with him, a new crew, and a new ship. The same ship, and crew he had left with did return, but they were hardened... Battle weary. The Husky himself hadn't returned, but something else in his place. Something harsh and cold, a dead look in his eyes. The sea had come to claim the man, but took only the soul, and heart. He had become ruthless. A story surfaced, rumors of a ghost ship drifting off the coast of Drakoria. A ship of corpses, Drakorians slaughtered in horrendous ways, silhouettes against the sky of bodies hung from the mainsail, by their own innards, and carved into the deck of the ship? The Drowning Jolly Roger.
There was word of children, and one of them lost to the sea, it was this precursor that many believe turned the Husky from opportunist, into the brutal pirate he had become. Most ran from the flag of the Royal Navy, but there was word that Navy ships had come up missing, and the Drowning Jolly Roger was once again whispered among the lists of culprits. A list that was short, and for good reason. A wolf hunting the wolves. Looking for a fight, as if embroiled in some war. That seemed to be the case. The Valdys pirates had vanished, and in their place? Halloway and Sons Shipping Company. The Sea wolf was creating a fleet, to what purpose? No one knew and that was what scared most. Especially with word that Bloodfang had made the rise to captain. Violence was abound, what will the future hold? Will the crew survive the Commandant's bloody streak? -
The Drowning Jolly Roger
From out of the mouths of drunkards, scoundrels, and all sorts of souls of ill repute; Came whispers of a ship. A ship that did not sail on the water, but on the blood and corpses of all that had been unlucky enough to see their black flag carving through the heavens; The Valdys. A frigate whose origin was unknown, and the tales of the crew even more the enigma. Captained by a man whose face, and name was well known among the weather worn papers attached to boards through any royal port. Krise Halloway, wanted; Dead. He had alluded capture over, and over again. He had been captured twice. Story goes, that during his first capture Krise fashioned a shiv out of a leg bone of a dead cell mate, and killed his captors who were delivering his breakfast, before disappearing back into the sea. And the second? They had him, dead to rights, a noose around his neck over looking a crowd of faithful royals. The hanging was ambushed by the rag tag crew of scallywags that followed the wolf of the seas out from the gaping maw of the crushing abyss.
Oh yes, the crew... The deadly things, filthy scoundrels.
- His First mate, a one crimson eyed demon! That is what some called the Gargoyle, Guinness was her family name... Had been with the blimey captain since his upstart... A killer, who knew the seas better than most knew their own mums. Her loyalty to the crew was unquestioned, and her ability to command them as resolute as words etched into stone. A skilled Navigator and Helmswoman, who was known to have the ship dancing across the waves.
- The massive beast that they said was just the Valdys' carpenter, but the might axe he carried had been known to carry onto the decks of the ships they ransacked, cleaving grown men in two. His name was unknown, a man of few words, and even fewer emotions, the one most known for was rage, a malice that had the burliest of men with piss soaked undergarments.
- The boatswain was a damned Mad Man! Talking to ships as if they drew breath like you and me! Short in stature, simply a genius. He was the mastermind who kept that ship upright. Wild hair, large eyes, a man that wasn't known to fight, but if the ship was in danger? It is said he tore out a man's eyes once, but of course... This is just speculation.
- Then there was the salty lass that manned the Valdys' horrific broadside, 30 cannons on each side ride to tear asunder any ship brave enough to engage with the ship. This winged feline, known only as Blood Fang. Another one known to have travelled the seas all her life. She fit in well with the violent ambitions of the captain of the vessel, and mastered the percussion of the Valdys' dark song.
There were many more on his ship, the crew of the Valdys were written into the pages of nautical history, with ink made of blood and salt water. They made it a point to attack royal ships carrying the king's taxes, and any other ship that dared to carry cannons. They were known to be fearless, and protected by the very sea itself. - His First mate, a one crimson eyed demon! That is what some called the Gargoyle, Guinness was her family name...
