Conduct
IC = / = OOC
Keep IC (in-character) and OOC (out-of-character) separated. This applies spatially – keep the boards free of clutter and post everything in their proper sections. But, more severely, this applies to character interaction. Keep in-character and out-of-character matters separate. For example: if, for any reason, you’re peeved at an author or character, don’t have your character be a jerk to that character. Just...no drama. Keep the drama off the boards, please
Regarding godmoding and powergaming:
Don't.
If you have any questions regarding auto-hitting, discuss with your partner. Auto-hitting within reason won’t be discouraged, but if you feel the situation requires consent, it probably does. "Attempting" language and/or die-based conflict are encouraged. Also, please be considerate: don’t post five actions for every one of your partner’s, for example. We like courtesy here in Bridgeport.
Be aware of the setting.
Bridgeport is set in the modern world - it deals with the same socio-economic climate as present day America. While Bridgeport itself is a fake town, anything happening currently in America - and the world at large - still applies.
This also means that, yes, characters such as Tony Stark and Dr House are well known fiction.
Another note on awareness of setting is that - as this is supposed to mimic the real world (as far as fantasy RP can), secrecy of the supernatural is absolutely key. If your character wants to be blatant about their affliction or differences, please be aware that IC consequences will apply. Please play responsibly and realistically - if your vampire runs around flashing its fangs, chances are it's going to be killed and cause panic.
Post content advisories when applicable.
All posts are to have a content warning at the top - if there is no applicable triggers (further discussed here; also discussed here are why this is important), simply write 'none'.
Please try to keep the use of questionable language, conduct, if not to a tasteful minimum, at least reasonable. Don’t turn Tarantino on us. -

Can I have 24809234 million characters?!
No. You can't have 24809234 million characters. Hypocritically though, you may play as many as you want. However, please keep the amount down to a number you find manageable - we've all drowned in too many alts, before.
Your characters MUST be balanced, in terms of the potency of strengths and weaknesses. If the strengths overshadow the weaknesses, or if the weaknesses don’t affect or have any direct consequences on the character, then the character isn’t balanced. “She’s endearingly clumsy!” or “He might become slightly inconvenienced and angered by Element A, and some torturous, attractive personal demons that have no direct bearing on him or his actions” won’t fly, here. Think of it this way: even the Greek gods were petty, horny, squabbling and debilitatingly gullible.
Original characters, only.
Please mind the setting and the continuity. Only play characters who belong to you.
That being said, gods or similar all-powerful beings are typically off-limits. Clear them with an administrator if you must.
The administrators reserve the right to question - and if necessary, lock or remove - anything occurring on these forums at any time.

On the monster community:
Admittedly some of the confusion here rests in the fact that we use the term "community" in the first place. The idea that there is any sort of organized group or that Bridgeport is out and open about it's unusual concentration of freaks and geeks is a huge misunderstanding- The idea is that on a day to day basis the regular non-monster population of Bridgeport have no idea that there is any sort of freaky monster-related goings-on in their town. There is a loose organization of monster-folk who live in the town and are aware of one another, but there is no solid communal body who live and operate daily with their monster nature out in the open. Secrecy is key! -
Did You Know?
The tourism industry in Bridgeport is virtually non-existant, although an old lady who owned a fish processing factory did set up a small attraction called "Herring Land" in the 1950s. It was not very popular. -
