This was the year that started it all, and set the pattern for future Epic Weeks.

Monsters would spawn in front of the portals every hour, or when a symbol was solved. They had specific damage type vulnerability based on color. The color code has held true for most subsequent Epic Weeks.

There were no monsters that could inflict status effects; this mechanic would not be added until the following year.
