This mechanic was introduced in 2016. Some monsters can inflict the poisoned status when they hit you. This status effect typically lasts 4-6 hours, or until cured using an item. If a monster inflicts poison on you but you are already poisoned, the debuffs will remain the same, but the countdown on it resolving naturally will be restarted.

Makes you feel sick and dizzy, thus making aiming and dodging more difficult. While poisoned, monsters get a +2 bonus to their attack roll against you, and you will suffer a -2 penalty on your own attack rolls against monsters.

If a walrus defended you during the round that the poison would have been inflicted, the walrus will prevent you from taking poison.

Cures

A frond from a plant with green, somewhat shiny leaves. Medicinal Plant- Recovery from blight and poison. Has been available many different years.
A futuristic metal object that is somewhat syringe-like, though it has no needle. It contains a green liquid. Stimspray - Recovery from blight and poison. A 2017 & 2020 item.
A glass bottle full of a bubbling green liquid. A label on the bottle reads Anti-Venom, and has a drawing of fangs underneath. Antivenom- Recovery from poison. Available in 2022 and 2023.
A steaming cup of tea. Two lumps of sugar are waiting on the saucer, for those who like it sweet. Hot Cuppa- Recovery from blight and poison. This item was only available during the Operation Audacious Phoenix Bake Sale Fundraiser, and therefore is an extremely rare collectors item. Most would not consider using it to clear their status effects because of this, but it is included here for completeness.
