The hippocampus is a creature with the front half of a horse and the back half of a fish. They have both lungs and gills, and are able to breathe just as easily underwater as on land.

These incredible beasties are symbols of hope, especially hope in the face of uncertain circumstances or having become lost.

The design and art for them was done by Ilmarinen.

Getting a Hippocampus


On the RPR, the hippocampi were introduced as part of 2023's Operation Terra Incognita Lemonade Stand Fundraiser. They were a relatively higher end fundraiser item, costing between $20-$30 each. It is unknown when or if they will be available again.

Variations


A literal sea horse - the front is that of a horse, but the back is a mer-tail. This one has emerald green fur and scales. Emerald Hippocampus, introduced on July 21st 2023

The scales are a brighter purple, and the fins are the orange of the setting sun. Twilight Roan Hippocampus, introduced on August 11th 2023

Usage

They can be played with and cared for in the "walragotchi" pet care simulator, as with other pets.
